Fundraising News

Over the past few months the Trust has held a number of fundraising events which have been well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
An Indian Evening was held at Pipasha Indian Restaurant in Cambridge. A quiz night and auction was also held at Caldecote village hall and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
A new event the Frock Exchange Party was held at the Source in Bourne and was great fun with a large part of the evening spent trying on clothes.
At each event our very own "hamper" themed in accordance with the evening and designed by one of the Trustees is raffled.
The famous Lisa Kent Memorial Trust logo cake is also included.

The Mid Anglia Centre of the Caravan Club
The Mid Anglia Centre of the Caravan Club presented Liz with a cheque for £1800 raised
by their Junior Committee throughout last year. They organised a variety of events
including bonus ball collections, raffles etc.
We are extremely proud of their dedication to raising this huge amount and delighted that
Lisa’s name can live on with the building of a new school, which these funds will go
towards.
Huntingdon Rotary
The Hinchingbrooke breakfast club recently presented the Trust with a cheque for £1500
which they had raised throughout the past few months.
Without the support and dedication of all these organisations the Trust would not exist
and for this we are immensely grateful.
CAN YOU HELP? - Transportation/container
The Trust from time to time is given obsolete school equipment which we struggle to
take out to the Gambia. The cost to ship it out is very high, being over £2,000 for a small
container and although the equipment is very much in need we cannot justify spending
such a large sum of money. If anyone can help by taking out equipment or can help in
anyway, please do get in touch.
The amount of disused school equipment in this country is immense and can be put to
such good use in the Gambia.
CLASSICAL PIANIST
A piano recital by Alexander Karpeyev, the acclaimed winner of this year's Norah Sande Award for International young pianists took place on the 19 September 2008 at Huntingdon Performing Arts Centre. The concert was played on the Bosendorfer Grand Piano bought recently for Hinchingbrooke School by former pupils.
A cheque for £1,000 was presented to the Trust by Maggie Galan of Huntingdon Rotary Club.
KARTING
LLoydsTSB Commercial Huntingdon organised a 2 hour endurance kart race at Caxton Kartsport on Wednesday 15 October 2008. Ten teams entered with approximatley 4 drivers per team. Each team had to have at least 8 driver changes during the evening and also a fuel stop.
Any driver breaking the rules had to enter the 'Sin Bin' for a minute's penalty unless a fee was paid to exit early. The more 'sporting' teams were also caught 'buying' additional laps to move up the leaderboard.
At the end of the evening prizes for the two fastest teams, with Hunts Construction Ltd 'the Kumho Racers' in first position and LloydTSB Financial Markets team in second place. There was also a trophy for the 'worst sinners' duly collected by Wolfe Manufacturing who spent more time in the 'sin bin' than on the track apparently due to a red mist problem! These were presented by Robert Huff, one of Chevrolet's FIA World Touring Car drivers.
Robert is currently lying 3rd in the WTCC with two races left.
We auctioned an number of donated motor racing memorabilia included a signed limited edition print of Lewis Hamilton in his 2007 McClaren, together with a framed set of photographs of the Formula 1 driver, kndly donated by Ethos Entertainment from St Neots. Robert Huff also donated many racing items and was on hand to sign any memorabilia.
On the evening Robert Huff presented a cheque on behalf of LloydsTSB, to the Trust for £2,400, further funds raised from the auction & the 'sin bin' plus sponsorship are likely to take this total to nearly £4k.
WATCH this space for another event next year!!!
